Originally from Canada and now popular in France, the concept of the canipark is based on the same principles and infrastructure as a dog leisure park.

The canipark is a secure and fenced space specially designed and adapted for dogs composed of green spaces and an area for the needs of dogs, shaded areas and play areas to practice dog agility and run dog courses, cani-hike.

Caniparks are created and managed by local authorities or by foundations and non-profit associations to promote the well-being of dogs and provide them with a safe environment for dog walking and socializing with other dogs. In addition, canines can walk, run and play freely without a leash under the supervision of their owners.

 

What are the regulations for a canipark?

In France, the majority of caniparks require that dogs be vaccinated and respect other canines present. Category 1 and 2 dogs must be fitted with a muzzle and owners of dogs and puppies must supervise their pet and ensure that it behaves appropriately with other dogs and are responsible for picking up waste of their domestic animal.

OPEN DAYS IN SPAS ON OCTOBER 5 AND 6, 2024

 

Throughout France, on October 5 and 6, 2024, the Société Protectrice des Animaux, better known as the SPA, is organizing 2 special days dedicated to animal protection, animal welfare, collecting donations but also in order to encourage and allow the general public to adopt a dog or a cat from an SPA dispensary or an associative animal shelter.

After a new record for abandonment of domestic animals during the summer of 2024, all SPAs are overloaded with abandoned dogs and cats. 

One of the solutions to allow these abandoned pets to have a chance of finding an adoptive family is to widely communicate and promote support actions focused on canine adoption and feline adoption by organizing days open doors.

The main objectives of these 2 SPA open days are to raise awareness and inform the public about animal protection issues and the actions carried out by the SPA, to raise funds to support SPA animal shelters and the various structural programs of the SPA and, above all, to allow visitors to meet and adopt animals waiting for a new family.

 

What is the program for the 2 SPA open days on October 5 and 6, 2024?

The program of 2 open days on October 5 and 6, 2024 is also suitable for adults with workshops and conferences organized by experts in animal behaviorism, veterinarians, dog trainers, animal law lawyers and volunteers from the SPA only for children with fun and educational activities to raise awareness of the animal cause. 

 

How to participate in the SPA open days?

SPA open days will take place in several animal shelters and SPA dispensaries across France.

Activities will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. during these 2 exceptional days and entry is generally free, but donations are encouraged to support the SPA's actions.
