Originally from Canada and now popular in France, the concept of the canipark is based on the same principles and infrastructure as a dog leisure park.

The canipark is a secure and fenced space specially designed and adapted for dogs composed of green spaces and an area for the needs of dogs, shaded areas and play areas to practice dog agility and run dog courses, cani-hike.

Caniparks are created and managed by local authorities or by foundations and non-profit associations to promote the well-being of dogs and provide them with a safe environment for dog walking and socializing with other dogs. In addition, canines can walk, run and play freely without a leash under the supervision of their owners.

 

What are the regulations for a canipark?

In France, the majority of caniparks require that dogs be vaccinated and respect other canines present. Category 1 and 2 dogs must be fitted with a muzzle and owners of dogs and puppies must supervise their pet and ensure that it behaves appropriately with other dogs and are responsible for picking up waste of their domestic animal.

The Animal Protection Association, better known by the diminutive name of SPA, and the 30 Million Friends Foundation represent the 2 most serious and oldest institutions in France to take care of animal protection and abandoned animals by welcoming them in particular in an animal shelter with a view to caring for them, feeding them and offering them for adoption to the general public.

For several months, the SPA and 30 Million Friends have been publishing advertising spots on all French television channels based on the theme of becoming a godfather of a dog or cat by making a donation of at least €10. Sponsoring an abandoned animal allows the many dispensaries of the SPA and 30 Million Friends to pay veterinary and animal care fees, buy quality food, buy blankets, toys, cat trees and more for animal welfare.

Donations are free and 66% tax deductible, which may encourage certain taxpayers to help abandoned animals by granting larger financial donations. 

Also, becoming an animal sponsor with the SPA or the 30 Million Friends Foundation is a great way to contribute to animal protection without adopting a dog or adopting a cat.

 

With the SPA, the sponsor has the opportunity to choose the animal to sponsor among the SPA's dog and cat shelters and the sponsors are authorized to visit the godson to walk him and above all to spoil him with gifts, love and delicious treats.

With the 30 Million Friends Foundation, the sponsor becomes a “Heart Master” by making a monthly donation to support the Foundation’s actions. Like the SPA, donations received to help abandoned dogs and cats are used to cover veterinary costs, food, hygiene, accessories or even to renovate the animal reception structure, improve the daily life of animals and finance legal actions with an animal law lawyer to defend animals.

It is easy to become a dog sponsor or become a cat sponsor on the internet via the SPA website and that of 30 Million Friends or by mail by sending a donation by mail according to the sponsors' preferences.
