The training program to become a dog trainer consists of several learning components including dog training and puppy education, animal biology, animal care or customer management and business management.

Also, in order to improve and learn the gestures and techniques of an animal rescuer, some professional dog trainers pass in addition a canine first aid training or animal first aid training.
